About Me

My photo
San Diego, CA
Welcome to my blog! I'm Shawndene and I started this when planning my dream vintage/rustic-inspired wedding, which was on September 17, 2011. I've decided to keep this blog, although I will no longer be posting wedding-related posts (ok, maybe just a few because I can't help myself)! You'll find mostly DIY crafts, baking, who knows what else...anything I'm into for the moment probably :) Please feel free to comment on any of my posts! Thanks for stopping by!

Pin wheels

DIY pinwheels.  Not sure where I'm going to use them but they're cute :)
Our photographer featured some of our engagement pictures on her blog if anyone wants to check it out!

Jam Favors

I'm so excited we get to give our guests homemade jam!  I'm making them with my step mom, Kelley, and her mom, G-ma Bub...we've only made 20 so far but we'll get there...here are just a few pics of the 1st time I helped out.  I'll take more pics next time.

So much work for not a lot of jam.  And, you can't double the recipe.
We'll probably put a sticker like this on and tie with some twine.
Hope our guests like!! It will be pomegranite jam, yuuum.

1st dress fitting this Saturday!!!

When I tried it on in March, it wouldn't zip up...let's hope I have better luck!!! :)

I miss my blog :(

Yes, I love my new schedule working 4 10 hour shifts during the week, and, I am NOT complaining! :)  But, in hindsight, I would have definitely waited to start a new job until AFTER the wedding.  I'm going on my 8th, yes 8TH, week of training and they still feel like I need more :(  It's so much harder and I need to start studying for another registry exam soon.  I realize I had it very easy at my last job, although it was graveyard and that did suck.  I just needed to get that out, I miss searching wedding blogs and updating mine, too.  It might be a good thing because at this point, I don't have time for new, cool ideas I would see on the blogs...but I do miss them!  I only took off 2 days before the wedding, I'm wondering if that is enough....
I had my 1st wedding nightmare last night.....my Nana was in charge of the music! hahaha, it did not go so well :)

Recent pics I sent to my florist

I am really liking the ribbon hanging from the bouquets!
Something like this (but not baby's breath) :)
 so romantic

I met with our florist Alisa and her biz partner, Ashley, a few weeks back and am so happy they're doing our flowers.  She's Rodge's (O's best man) sister and I totally trust her & Ashely's taste!  I am pretty open when it comes to the flowers at the wedding, I really like the wildflower look, but I also love all the romantic flowers...peonies are my favorite!  But, I don't think they'll be in season then.  We really don't have that many flowers, actually, none in the entire reception tent, just cocktail hour, ceremony and bouquets.  I have no doubt our flowers will be amazing and am so excited to see what they come up with!!
